Refuses to open. Thinks phone is rooted but all Root access is disabled? I even checked this and tried again. No offense, but it looks like the mechanism that scans for root access appears to be unable to actually do just that. It is probably looking at the ROM I’m guessing? Opal does this feature properly, their app can actually look for root access and will lock you out if it’s on but allows you if it’s off. Tl;dr: It’s “Root detector” can’t detect root access correctly so I remain sceptical for the rest of the app.

Keeps notifying low balance before the threshold I set the notification to go off at. Really, really annoying and distracting. I’ve set it to £5 – it tells me I’m low every time I use it under £15. And I travel a lot, so that means a lot of notifications despite my best efforts. TfL, PLEASE fix this. Other than that, very good app and I find it handy and fast to top up.

Incredibly useful app with good functionality. I’m not sure why there are such negative reviews. You can top up, buy travel cards and track your journeys. It would be good to have a reminder when your travel card is about to expire and a way for automatic renewal within the app. The journey planner should be inbuilt instead of taking you to the website.

Not bad as a start, although the features are very limited: not able to rename cards, no buses map only for tube… and for most things it redirects you to the website pages which is good up to some point but that’s not the main purpose of the apps. I would expect more from TFL to be honest, or that they invest on a quicker app development. Thanks

It used to notify me when my balance was low but since the update I don’t receive anything which is kinda frustrating. As sometimes on buses it’s hard to see the balance so the notify function was a God send so I didn’t worry about trying to see it. But now due to the notification not working I’ve had a zero balance twice now. Please fix it!

Barely Functional! This app is too glitchy to be of any use to anyone. It frequently signs out of the account, it almost never has the correct balance, it’s said I’ve had incomplete journeys on multiple occasions when I haven’t and the most recent issue is that despite having a solid wifi connection the payment times out so I haven’t been able to top up. Side note, it takes 30 minutes between topping up on the app and it registering on the card which is ridiculous. Uninstalling.

Can no longer use for payment, doesn’t update. It used to work but now, credit card payments won’t go through, so little point in keeping the app. Also it displays incorrect balance information. If you update it about three times, it displays the correct info. On closing app and reopening it, often it reverts to the previous, incorrect info. Not sure what has gone so wrong…

I really use to enjoy the convenience and the ease-of-use of this app until… I lost my bank payment card which meant I had to add a new card to the app. Now I can’t COMPLETE a top-up (even though the app tells me that it has successfully contacted my bank), the payment NEVER concludes. I thought it was my internet connection, but no. I have tried with strong 4G, I’ve tried strong WiFi, but no. Unfortunately there’s NO option to remove my previous bank payment card. I am sure that I have selected the correct card. Re-installing the app does not resolve. It’s now become a worthless app, as it now only provides my Oyster card balances!

can no longer top up my card! its infuriating, this has been going on all week. It’s happened before but never for this long (a week) sort it out. This app also has a nasty a habit of signing you out when you haven’t used it for a time not helpful at all. It can also be slow when updating you balance but side from the issues stated it’s an ok app.

poor design, when you add credit it doesn’t always show up immediately and on several occasions the top up wouldn’t work, but it would still block the amount on my credit card and then after several days it would be released. if it worked properly, although a very basic app it would be very convenient for adding credit to your oyster.

The app has always worked great, but the past few days I haven’t been able to sign in and I receive an error message saying it is due to a technical issue. I have uninstalled, restarted my phone, cleared cache and nothing has worked. I feel quite lost without this app as I have relied on it daily for work. Please find a fix!

If I could give a lower score I would. This app takes what should be a very straightforward process (checking the balance of my oyster card) and makes it a hellish experience. It doesn’t seem to support NFC which would streamline the process immensely, and it is too focused on creating accounts and collecting your information , as opposed to providing a useful service. Avoid this app, it is a waste of space, time, and privacy with nothing to show for it.

I like the immediacy of being able to top up quickly on the go without having to navigate the TfL website, as well as having quicker access to relevant journey history. However, it gives me low balance notifications pretty much every time I tap in despite my balance not being low. Which is a pity, because as a PAYG user, that would be one of the most useful features.

Just reported difficulty adding a new card, no keyboard. Turns out the list current cards view is less a list more a window ONLY showing ONE card at a time. I really hate this type of one at a time, swipe left/right, go find it interface. Let me see ALL so that I can choose which one to transact with then exit backwards the way I came. So, I’ve found all my registered cards but sure without the App giving me keyboard how I add a just bought card without using the browser TfL website.

I had high hopes for this app. Very clear, easy to navigate, but does not show ANY of your journey history….apart from the last one you did. Contacted Oyster, was told there may have been an error on the system and they emailed me last 8 weeks. However, I would prefer to be able to see myself. STILL NOT SHOWING A WEEK LATER…

In general the app is OK to check your Oyster balance and spending in real time. What’s annoying me is that you can’t stay signed in. Wouldn’t be a problem with fingerprint signing in but typing the password all the time on the go is a hassle. Also it would be a nice thing to integrate a journey planner (like other apps in different cities around the world do) and not opening it in a browser.

It is convenient when it works. But, it has some sort of problem 25% of the time. Problems include signing you out and then not recognising your correct password. Taking a long time to add payment and dropping it at the last minute. It is not travel app you can depend on. In a world where apps have become really dependable, this app seems exceptionally unreliable. When it comes to payment apps, reliability is not optional.

Not great. Not reliable. Poor for an app in 2020 1. Often logs out. Very annoying if trying to use on the go. 2. 30mins to load credit to oyster once topped up. Very annoying if trying to use on the go. I had to do an additional top up via the machine at the station so that I could start my journey. 3. Can’t add zip cards or check balance. Very annoying when my child is stranded and needs to top up and I’m not with them. 4. Payment processing takes a long time and often times out

I couldn’t see my travel history to check how much I’ve used on the day and if I was close to the daily cap. I thought uninstalling and reinstalling it again would have fixed this as it did in the past, but it didn’t. It is actually worsen it, now I can’t log back at all, I have been trying for 3 days. This is very poor! I need to go out, check my balance and load my card as not usind a machine due to Covid. Very very bad issue!

Constantly asks for verification. Gave up after verifying via email to only then get a series of picture verification tasks, gave up after 3 and uninstalled. Thanks for the suggestion of reinstalling etc but as it was supposed to be a convenient way of travelling I really can’t be bothered and gave up. When it is so easy to travel by simply tapping a card at entrance barriers an app that causes stress is simply consigned to the bin.

A terrible app, dumbed down and simplistic to the point of compromising functionality. Limited features and some are hidden away e.g. I get a notification saying that I may be eligible for a journey refund and I click on it, it takes me to another page where it says the exact same thing. Nothing else. No instructions or links for getting the refund, very infuriating. Even more annoying is the pop up wear a mask notification that pops in your face every time you open the app. Terrible.

The app worked fine for me to top up my Oyster Card balance. However it has lost details of my recent journey history even though it was fine earlier in the day and still shows my final concluding journey on the front page. Also the balance went haywire, even negative at one point. I appreciate that this is because the app doesn’t take into account the journey cap until after you have tapped out at your destination station, but it keeps flashing up messages saying your balance is low!

App doesn’t even load. Stuck on splash screen. All I get is the option to share analytics, and neither option goes anywhere. The app just hangs on a splash screen. I’m a developer so I’m not using it wrong. I’ve even cleared all the app data and cache and tried again, still just the single analytics question and never ending loading splash screen.

Pretty good! Can be just a tiny bit slow at times (only frustrating if I’m in a hurry to the train). Also, top-up notifications used to hang around for too long: it would tell you you had £20 to collect even after you’d collected it. I think they may have fixed that now though. Overall very easy to use. Quick and simple oyster top-up.

Useful app to keep an eye on your travel expenses & top-up whilat trabelling from your phone, which is great. However, my only gripes is that doesn’t allow you to top-up less than £10 which some people may find inconvenient. Additionally, nor can you remove ‘old’ cards that are no longer compatible with TfL online services (the reason I have a new card in 1st place as I had one of the OG cards from early 00s still!)

It was working fine until last week when I noticed it is no longer showing journey history. Please fix this. I’ve also been overcharged for not tapping in when I did, and when I made a claim for a refund I got an email saying you can’t refund because of a technical problem so I should call Customer Services. I’ve tried twice and was kept on a call list for 20 mins both times, with no one answering. So I’ve lost £8 through no fault of my own.

User friendly app, easy to navigate. Most annoying point for me is the ‘journey history’ section: 1/ it works 1 out of 10 times (hasn’t been working for several days now). 2/ when it does work, doesn’t give real time history. Considering that we can travel on any bus during a 1h period, knowing the time when we 1st touch is useful.

Such an incredibly unintuitive app. Whoever thought it would be a wise idea to process a purchase over 24 hours on a transport app in one of the busiest City in the world is by far the most myopic and idiotic ideas I have ever seen. The main point of adding discount/loyalty cards to your phone is to avoid having to carry a wallet full of physical cards. This app fails on this most basic of functions as you can’t seem to use it to tap in and out, only to do what you could just as easily do by logging into your account on a webpage. So I can’t really see the point of this app.

Can’t access the app because the sign-up activation email takes me to an ugly ‘Access Denied’ page. Total waste of time.

Not a good app at all! Can’t set a default card, see journey history, remove cards you dont want to use anymore (despite removing them from the website they dont come out or get added in this app). Just Signed up but when I try to add a contactless card says is “the resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable”.. despite giving you the option on the previous screen. Gutted, I hope is a temporary glitch 🙄

Nice app. Just a little touch on the time frame it takes for one’s top up to reflect. Really annoying when you just topped up and couldn’t acces a bus because your card is still showing low on balance. Not forgetting the journey history…please work on it. There are times it doesn’t show at all.

Of recent, it’s so easy to use the app for top ups, and it’s also nice to acknowledge its useful information that helps journey planning(amongst others). Hope the standard is maintained and enriched with more specs as possible in the future. 👍🏻

Clunky and frustrating but gets the job done. The ride history function is awful and doesn’t show times and dates of the journey, or sometimes shows nothing at all. Best to use the website to check ride history. Topping up however is very easy.

When the app works it works really well. There has been a few times where it says the payment hasn’t been authorised only to find the money has been deducted from the bank account. It gets credited back with a few days so nothing was lost.

Unable to add contactless card makes this useless. I’ve logged in and aiming to use the app to make contactless journeys while receiving a receipt. However every time I select “contactless” to add a card I get a page that states “the resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily available”.

Very good application, comfortable for having an e-wallet for your travels in London, with practically any kinds of transports. The only thing that it is not very comfortable, is related to the fact that after topping up from the app, the credit will be effective only after touching a yellow point with Oyster card. It would be more comfortable to have it directly credited after topping up from the app. Please, consider this potential improvement. Thank you very much 😊
