I’m very disappointed, I’ve been happily using this app on my old Meizu phone, now I have new Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and it’s not working here. When I click on word nothing happens, Google translate button disappeared from bottom-right corner, no menu when I click and hold on a word, no way to translate inside app at all. Will have to search for another app now…

This is good if you wanna learn English. And if you can read (Russian? I think). That’s the website it sends you to when you want to look further than the very few books available. 99% of them are in English. So you would have to translate each sentence and try to read from that. Not at all what I was looking for.

Great app! I am learning French and have found some old books on project Gutenberg that I was trying to read using Google translate as helper. This app does exactly what I needed. It translates by paragraph and you can listen to the pronunciation at the same time. You can also tap a word to see its meaning. Great tool for people who want to practice their language skills!

This is an absolutely extraordinarily wonderful app!!!!! The only problem, which is probably my fault ,is that I’d love to be able to switch from one language to another, for example, I am trying to learn both Latin and Welsh, but the only way I’ve been able to do so is by uninstalling, then reinstalling the app. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, however, even if I can translate only one language at a time I still give it 5 stars very enthusiastically!!!

excellent as is, 5 stars; i said in my first review that it would be nice to have the option to read aloud the whole paragraph, not just single words but that feature actually exists, the developer kindly pointed where to activate it in the settings; brilliant, 6 stars then; and now to improve my french, thanks

Just downloaded it because Im learning a language and switching to other translation apps takes too long. The app works perfectly, does what it should and it makes reading a book in a different language so much easier. What a time to be alive.

when I click “download more books” the site search only ten languages, but in the app it lists very many languages (ex. , I want to find a book in Icelandic and use English as the language it lists the translated words in the book) a bit confusing in the intro when it said to pick which language, it didn’t clarify if the language I was selecting is my mother tongue or the book language. Gonna mess around with it more to hopefully get the hang of it.

  19. Minh NN says:

Not bad, but limited functions Basically, it is useful for only those who need a sentence translation, while word translation is nothing better here. Furthermore, you can’t choose translator other than Yandex, you need to pay for that. No offline dict as well, no real library. Strange thing is the translator icon on the right of a paragraph disappears in tablet mode. Epub displaying is also not good, loosing many formatting, probably because it extracts text as paragraph for translation.

In general the concept of the app – amazing. But first of all, can you add the funtion to select the word or expression or the whole sentence and to throw into notes. As you guess, the main group of users of the app is people who learning the language, and it would be logical if we can open the notes, learn the words later, after reading. Second of all i think a beige background more pleasant to the eyes than white or black 🙂

Most books will not load and throw a “file not found” message, the translation tool button disappears after one use, and even then, it only translates things half the time because it gives a “translation error” message. I am on a brand new S20 so it is definitely not my phone which is causing this issue.

The strong point is parallel/sentence translation (which can be also done with other tools if using other apps), other from that, the GUI is limited, without bookmark, notes, and the worse, no Find/Search. The text flow is …just raw, so you won’t be able to identify in which chapter/paragraph it is, and can’t find it without search.

I gave it the full 5 stars but it deserves much more. This is an app that will take any book, read it aloud in the original language and translate the text to any language you choose. You must spend a little time playing with all the options to get it configured to your liking, but that’s only because it’s so versatile. It’s an amazing tool to help learn/master a foreign language.

  31. David Sylverthorne says:

Every language learner should get this app. The only thing I would change about it would be to allow users to choose how to organize their books (e.g. alphabetically, by author, by language, etc.). Being able to create folders or “shelves” in the library would be another option. Everything else about it is wonderful. Being able to upload your own books is great. The translation functions work really well, and I love having multiple translators in case one is having trouble with a word/phrase.

I gave this only one star because I am an English speaker learning SLOVAK. I was hoping this app would have SLOVAK books that I could translate into English for what I didn’t understand. This app doesn’t help with my learning to read in SLOVAK. It seems for other languages to learn ENGLISH.

I have been looking for an app like this for a very long time. The app is really good, but it can be great. It needs small fixes. I don’t know why when I translate words and save them, some words are saved with context but some are not. In some cases I’d like to add the meaning of the word in the language I’m learning, but I can’t. If you can address these two things, you’ll get five stars from me.
