Heres my honest review. Being a french teacher myself I like to read articles . What I found attractive about the app is that the short stories are basically on topics that are interesting to read as a reader and not just the curriculum based topics. Now the next thing what makes it stand out is that it highlights the words when the speaker is speaking , so I think it would be helpful for the ones who arent yet accustomed to the pronunciations & are working on their listening skills. Regards.

Generally a good app. Maybe the developer will build some way to create user accounts. It’s not clear how they intend that to work. The premium model is kind of limiting, but the one month offer gives makes it easier to preview the content. The levels seem intuitively designed. Will give a review after interacting with the app for next one month.

I have to say I really enjoy this app so far. I highly appreciate the connection of short texts with audio. You can immediately take a quiz, add words to your vocabulary, grammar is explained as well. Really good app for training.

Really like this app. It has an excellent variety of texts to read and listen to (spoken by a native French person). It is set up easily to meet your level of competence. The quizzes are simple but reinforce the learning. I like that you can go back and forth into the dictionary, if you need to whilst you are reading. It helps if you get lost in the text !

For such a long time, I’ve been looking for a way to maintain my French reading skills without going through lessons/etc or reading actual French news stories that tend to be beyond my skill level. Extremely easy to look up words, don’t have to click 20 buttons and change pages like some other apps. My only complaint is the limited options for paid content. I would genuinely pay monthly if I didn’t have to commit $13, if there was an option for like, B2 level stories for $5/mo or something. edit: bumped to 5 stars for engaged and thoughtful response from developers

This app is great. I just installed it and I have found it very helpful in the aspect of learning French. This app is building my grammar in French. I recommend this app to those who want to learn French language without attending any studies. My problem is that most of the interesting stories are not for free. But I do love this app

This is a great app. I only wish one could retake the quiz that follows each story. When I miss a question or two, I like to reread the story (which the app allows) and then retake the quiz (which the app doesn’t allow). Otherwise, it’s useful and well made.

Best reading app to improve vocabulary, pronunciation and Grammer in one place. Very frequently updated with new stories too. However, i hope that i can have an option to save stories when I am offline as well.

  21. Kerry J says:

Good but has some bugs. If you choose to flashcard a word from story, when you go to learn it the word and meaning are missing leaving you with just the card number at the top. It would be nice to have full translation of stories also. But I do like the ability to review the stories and try and translate as I go along and then follow up later. Recommend being able to train cards in reverse, eg meaning first

  23. Liam McCullough says:

I’ve been using this app for French and German and so far I’ve absolutely loved it. The stories are concise and easy to digest but at the same time provide enough content to be challenging and useful. I love the option to save words I’m unsure of and practice them as flash cards with spaced repetition. The only improvement I can suggest right now is adding an option to order stories by date, I’d like to go back further without having to scroll for ages. A great app and a fair price as well.

After subscription you can access to read stories in 3-4 languages. I don’t even know those languages neither I need them. I only want French stories but why to pay more if you are not gonna read in the languages you don’t even know.

Not a fan of subscription, and 4 X 12 is 48, not 49.99 anyway. Some stories are boring and useless. Would be better to have more serious news and encyclopedic knowledge content. Grammar is only available when english is used as the target language. What’s the point of overlapping with Readle other than Readle having C1 level as well? Why not allow C1 in Langster?

First off this is a great app for learning to read French. I love how you can touch a word and it gives the definition, etc. Also the flash cards are great. I’m giving it two stars because there is no variety to the stories. I got very bored, very quickly – big regret with the purchase. It’s a shame because there is tons of potential here.
