No. Talisman doesn’t in reality go well with asynchronous play because of gamers having to react to spell casting.

For the second time after an update, all my data has been removed, even though I have an account specifically to save it. All my runestones, all my stats, etc. I’ve already had to work to get them all back once, I’m definitely not doing it again. You really need to fix that. Either way I’m not keeping the app.

As of today, the game will no longer start on my tablet, nor update the sound/graphics. I’ve owned this since it came out for Android and it has been one of my favorites ever since but this is RIDICULOUS! Won’t even get to the title screen, once it said it needed to update sound/graphics but could not even do that. I see that there are many others having this problem. Please fix this as soon as possible! When playable I’ll be more than glad to upgrade my review.

As someone whose never played the original boardgame, I’m thoroughly enjoying this digital rendition. Friendly UI, easy instructions, plenty of characters and modes for replay value, and several add-ons to purchase in addition to the game’s dense contents. My favorite feature is the Skip to Next Human Player button, so you’re not waiting 5minutes between your turn. It takes about 5 seconds to skip, leaving more time to actively enjoy playtime (something I wish the Horus Heresy version did). Also, being able to change options of the endgame is really neat if you’re looking for a lengthy or quick game. Overall, a very satisfying, premium game worth every penny. Also, after it’s initial release 4 years ago, the game is STILL being updated. Wonderful developers 🙂

The AI is annoying, the UI requires a million clicks and doesn’t manage conditionality, at all, and the game takes longer to play than the physical game. This is a classic example of a video game version being worse than the analog game. The solo version should be a quick and fun experience that recapitulates the fun of the board game while the computer manages all of the upkeep. Instead this version makes the player do extra upkeep and says the game of it’s fun.

I’ve never played the board game so I went in blind, and this was funner than I expected. On default rules the game takes forever, but this can be sped up with optional house rules, skipping animation on AI turns, and alternative win conditions (only two conditions come with the base game). EDIT: lowered from five to three. the games dice reroll system is clearly broken and not random.

Love this game. Noticing there isn’t much room for spell useage, being I want to use the spell as a reaction to an event. Instead it will be “qued” and then only triggered on those conditions. not sure if it is a glitch, had multiple games where spells would not allow proper targeting. Ex: Cast -Immobility and my character is the only possible target. (Double, tripple checked for passive events/conditions/magic objects tjat would cause it.)

Incredible adaptation of the boardgame! There is so much content here and it makes the game feel new every time. The instructions and tutorial make the game very understandable. The AI characters are challenging and the different boards/cards/characters add a ton of variety. The developers did a great job with this game. The interface is easy to use and I like the zoom in action on some of the moves. A living boardgame with a great fantasy theme.

Played this game for years and loved it. But each time another update is released, the developers manage to chip away and ruin the game further. The latest update makes the game unplayable – it’s now impossible to trade in trophies to upgrade your character, which is the aim of the game! I’ve given up contacting the developers (proved to be a waste of time).

Keeps logging me out and says I have too many linked accounts. I only have it installed on my phone and chromebook. This has been fixed once before, but now it started again. It’s annoying. Also, it needs immersive mode on phone to prevent screen burn of android controls on long games. I’d play it more on my phone if it filled the screen.

Really great game. Some changes I could suggest might be to: 1. get rid of the Dragon icon that appears at the beginning of your turn and every turn for that expansion and needs to be closed, 2. an on/off switch for using the horse or other high movement characters so not requiring selection every round, and 3. autonomous movement for the Werewolf and Reaper characters (in those expansions) to speed up gameplay (Just have them go for the nearest character)

The graphics are fine, but not outstanding, the game is very close to the board game, but the controls require significant improvements: the buttons are tiny, you miss them half of the time, you have to do a lot of unnecessary button presses, some buttons are not even signed. Frankly the controls simply ruin an overall pleasant game.

It is faithful port of the board game. Better in fact as there is no faffing about with the million odd (a slight exaggeration) pieces of card. The let down is Asmodee’s player profile functionality and their customer service. I emailed them months ago about how my profile’s level had vanished and i had had to start again. They never replied. A similar incidents has just happened again. This time the level and game that previously disappeared has reappeared taking with it my much higher level.

Great game, but there’s a couple of faults…. When you pick up Astrologer card, you’re supposed to be able to pick a card and place it down when you want. You can pick it up but can’t place it down. When doing Warlock Quest ending you get 4 quests but if one of them is the one where you roll the dice, it messes up system and doesn’t recognise as a compled quest.Rod of ruin too powerful, taking two lots of strength or craft, should be one…ps after recent update all achievements lost, arghhhh!!!

This is a fantastic rendition of the classic board game and with so much extra content to choose from but not in any way compulsory. I did have an issue with my account recently and lost a load of paid content but the Nomad support team were fantastic and after a quick chat and couple of emails, they got it sorted and on a BANK HOLIDAY no less 😆. Great game, great team and totally worth 5*! (And no, they aren’t paying me….yet guys?😜)

I would give this a higher rating, but I cannot use items or trade trophies. I tap the cards at the right time but they do not activate. These used to work. I am willing to change my review once this issue is fixed, but until then this is spoiling the game. Update 11/14/19: now every card encountered on the board is the sentinel from the bridge. This is definitely broken. Update 12/10. The issues have now been resolved. Now that this is working properly, I am changing my rating, good fix!

Honestly, this game is quite fun if you play it solo or even hotseat pass and play is pretty decent implementation. However I can’t give it a full five stars because of two issues that combine to make online play almost impossible. One, tabbing out of the app to switch to any other screen (text messaging client for instance) will disconnect the player from the game with no way I’m aware of to reconnect. Added to this is the worse of the two issues, which is the keyboard connection to the game is somehow messed up. It won’t allow the use of backspace or enter keys. This breaks in game chat (which exacerbates the other issue, negating the ability to communicate with others while playing). This also breaks private server selection (since the name can’t be changed, which is required for selecting the server). In a perfect world, the game wouldn’t disconnect every time i switch to my text messaging client. It would also allow reconnection to the same game if I were disconnected. Since the games can take hours, it would also allow saving an online game in progress so it could be reconnected. I’d settle for fixing the keyboard, which would make the game painful and kludgey but at least playable online. My brother’s iPhone has no issue with the keyboard. It’s a very fun game, just a problematic implementation. Fix the bugs and I’ll upgrade my review. And before you suggest it, I have filed a support ticket with Asmodee helpdesk.

Overall it is true to the game. If you like the physical game this is fun. The interface is quirky – It’s hard to read things and I wish that zoom was easer to use (pinch 2 zoom without the view mode transitions would be nice – think mac OS). I wish there was a “back” option for most things. There are times where “continue” means you can no longer change your mind and this can be frustrating. After killing someone at the crown of command I would like a “quick ignore all items” button. After killing 2 attackers dismissing 20 items each turn is annoying.

I have been playing Talisman the boardgame for almost 20 years and this app is a faithful, polished, and very enjoyable adaptation. Learning curve on buttons and turn sequence may be a little steep but the manual is helpful. Most of my playtime has been on airplanes and I am very happy that this does not require an internet connection to play. I have purchased all of the expansions and I feel I have barely scratched the surface of the game.

It IS a great game & well worth the time to play. However, I agree with many others despite what the developers say. It does seem there’s an unfair disadvantage toward the player, even when you change the difficulty. However, it should keep you from playing. It’s a great game, my only complaint is I wish Developers would listen to the player base instead of trying to defend their mechanics….maybe check the coding cause it does seem to have unfair difficulty majority of the time.

I really enjoy the game. It is a pretty faithful rendition of the current version of the board game–though I’ll always be partial to my 2nd edition copy. At times the AI players leave a bit to be desired and the whole runestone thing can be hugely rebalancing, but other than that I’m very glad I bought the game.

I really like this game but have 2 large complaints. One is that about 1 in 5 games it glitches and won’t give me the option of going to the inner region. I have to find a portal to get around it before the AI wins. Secondly, the red on green text for health isn’t legible unless you’re on tablet. Could you maybe add a colour blind option, because there’s no way to read it at all if you’re fully colour blind. Also an option to cast it to a TV would be a great way to make it a good party game.

Really fun game, it’s just like the board game! The only bad part is how easy it is to disconnect. Most apps/games run really well in the background but not this one. Even just pulling down my notification tab would sometimes cause me to disconnect. The good thing is it’s easy to reconnect to the table but it’s just annoying how much people disconnecting slows down the game when they are simply sending a quick text or checking a notification

Amazing game that I’ve played since I was a kid. Great to have it on Android. Two bugs: 1) In a 2 player game, both players were on woods, with axes. Player 1 used their axe, but on player 2’s turn, they couldn’t. 2) The orb item wasn’t able to be activated on drawing adventure cards. Other than that, keep up the good work!

I like the game, but the HUGE error is with fast forwarding the AI players and finding out you are now dead, a toad, or lost everything which happens many times. You can normally counter it in real life, but they don’t pause the fast forward for stuff cast on the human player. NO ONE has time and patience, and vision, to stare at each AI player’s moves for hours per game, especially on a phone. I have brought this to the developer’s attention, but they seem to only care about what you buy.

Fantastic. I had the original board game and this is very close to it. I really like that you can have AI opponents along side people playing online and on the same device and the fact you can save your games and pick them up again any time is brilliant. Worth the 5 stars. Worth every penny of the £2.99 spent.

I was a big fan of the game when it came out in the 80’s. This version is bigger and better. Most of the game mechanics are much more streamlined and easier to manage. The graphics are excellent. My only request is that the dev team works on a faithful reproduction of the Timescape expansion from the tabletop original.

Great game. The DLC gets a little bit clunky and pricy, in my opinion most DLC is not worth it. The game also gives massive luck buffs to the AI and struggling players for some reason, probably in the name of “balance”. Still its fun to play and I highly recommend it. If you dont want the game to ensure balance across all players then I recommend the board game.

It’s great to be able to play talisman but I have quite a few issues with single player. The AI has way better luck rolling than the player. The player constantly roles low numbers. If you skip to your next turn the game should pause anytime your player is interacted with. The AI gets into the inner circle and can even win the game with less than double digits in craft or strength which isn’t impossible but unrealistic. It happens every game. There are way more but I only get 500 characters

I see a ton of complaints about the single player experience but I have not had these issues with the game. The UI is a bit weird but is manageable to deal with. My main complaint is the tutorial isn’t much of a tutorial just windows of text that pop up when you try an action for the first time. Meanwhile the game is still going on in the background while your reading it. Otherwise this is a pretty enjoyable game that I like playing in my spare time.

It’s ok but could improve. The dice sit on top of a square so trying to move there can cause an accidental reroll. The board is small but surrounded by a lot of empty wasted space. I find it hard to see the details of game like character/board features and text because of that. The zoom function is not really enough to fix that. Otherwise the game is ok

Multiplayer is great but I’ll agree that the AI really could use some work. If you’re playing singleplayer, the best play is with the original map and the first two expansions. The rest of the main board expansions and small things like Realm of Souls should be fine, but if you add any new corner boards the AI starts to do absolutely nothing but bumble in and out of especially the Woodlands at random.

I have owned the board version for 20 years and have been playing it for 30, but it’s hard to find people who want to sit at a table for a few hours and play. This app is worth the price. I play at least once a day, you can play with AI and you can speed up the AI’s turns so it’s back to you in a few seconds. At first it is hard to win because the AI goes after your character, but after I started to level up and have been awarded a few items it starts to get easier.

It’s more or less talisman I doubt my opinion matters much to the devs but it would be amazing if I could play my turn, close the app and return in my own time so me and my friends can play on the go all the time. Also spells should be concealed to other players.

Simply AWESOME!!!. Very engaging and full of flavor. The base game is so much fun but with the complete expansion set, its epic. Very player interactive. Sure it is very heavy on rng, but this is more like roleplaying than strategy. So you just enjoy the nail baiting suspense and thrill of dice roles. Presentation, art, sound and music are top notch quality production. AI is sufficient as far as I’m concern. I never really experience what the others are sayin about it being a cheat. 5/5

When the dice lands on a tile you can travel to, you end up rolling the dice again instead of going to that area and wasting fate points! Honestly I feel i want a refund, because I can’t play the game like this, wasting fate points..very disappointed with this purchase. It is much like the original but no point upgrading with add ons and expansion packs till this fixed, I won’t play it anymore. Feel like I’ve wasted money 🙁

Love it. Expansions are easily accessible and cheap. AI and pass and play work great. Minis are full colored. Makes the game actually more convenient to play.

Best game, I wish you could pre select characters for when you play the game when you pick between a few cards… Would be cool to choose certain characters to no be in so you can make cool themed games…. Please do that it would be great.. That’s how I play my real version with mates. Well make a lord of the rings theme or what ever … Great game . Also a few characters like barbarian have glitches where he won’t start with the sword it says on his character card so almost makes him pointles

The game heavily favors the Ai in single player. Be prepared for misfortune to follow you like the plague 90% of the time. I would not endorse this game for singleplayer. You can easily beat the Ai, but its constant cheaty good fortune and ripping you off will annoy you to the point that any enjoyment is offset by how much of a hassle it is to get what you want done. I’m the moron who went and bought the 50$ expansion set, because loved this game as a board game. I regret it.

I got Talisman as a gift and it keeps closing as soon as I attempt to open the game. I tried clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling and clearing room to make sure there is plenty of available memory. Update: I finally got word from Nomad games, I was told I shouldn’t have been able to purchase Talisman, but I saw it in the play store with no notice that it wouldn’t run on my chromebook. BEWARE: may not run on your device and getting in touch with Nomad is difficult and frustrating.

There is a review from October 11 about how the game keeps closing, and Nomad Games said the game doesn’t run on Chromebooks. I have the same issue and response from their Customer Support, with one important addition: I have had this game for years on at least two Chromebooks, and it played perfectly until a few days ago. I am very disappointed that Customer Support didn’t admit that the incompatibility is a recent development, or offer a timeline for when the game will be compatible again.
