So the name of this app sounds like it should promote safe driving. Well to me that means keeping your eyes on the road and your surroundings. Ultimately I don’t think this app accomplishes this. While this app does have large icons making it slightly quicker to look at your phone you still have to take your eyes off if the road. It does support multiple messaging apps as well as other apps like music or podcast. It also works with map/ navigation apps. As far the talk to text you need to have your phone unlocked and the screen on for it to work properly. It does work really well to auto start when connected via Bluetooth even uf sometimes it is delayed say up to a few blocks or approximately 2 minutes. So what I’m the most displeased with this app is while it is running/ starting it wants your screen to be on. Here is an example. 1. I connect my phone via Bluetooth and then it turns my screen on. 2. I push the lock button to turn the screen off. 3. A few seconds later the screen is on again. 4. I push the lock button again and the screen is off again. I had this happen up 6 times on multiple occasions. Each time I had to take my eyes off of the road. Also having the screen on it drains your battery much faster. So if i were to let it drain my battery while I’m driving I get the joy of having my MOBILE phone connected via wire or stuck sitting on a wireless charger. Either way this defeats the purpose of having a mobile phone. If you didn’t know already the majority, if not all, of phones out there use some form of lithium ion batteries. This type of battery can only be charged so many times before it drastically deteriorates and will no longer hold a charge. Therefore to prolong the life of these cheap, lmao, $700 – $1,000 phones so you can get more than 2 years out of them. You should watch how you charge them. Having an app that forces your screen to be on while the app is running is not only distracting while driving, it does not promote safe driving, and reduces the life span of your phone. If you’re looking for a simple app that will send auto replies and not have the need for interaction with the device then this app is NOT for you. If you’re someone who is not concerned with taking your eyes off of the road. Who doesn’t see the need to pay attention while driving to prevent accidents and potential fatalities then this might be for you. Oh as a side note I did report this strange screen continuously turning on to the development team. As well as asked for a setting to not allow the screen to be turned on by the app. This was about 3 – 4 weeks ago and the only reply I got was quick (within 3 days) but said something along the lines of “it will be passed on”. It is currently mid October 2018.

This app allows you to drive safely and still communicate with others. The only thing I didn’t like was that when it sends a text out it sends a message and link for the app. At first it was fine but when the same person gets the link and message after ever text it starts to get frustrating and annoying. It’s too much when you have to keep scrolling just looking for a specific message and see that all the links are taking up so much space. It would be fine for 1 per phone number or person but 1 for every message is just way too much. If that could be fixed or minimized then I would definitely rate 5 stars.

This is the best and closest alternative to Cortana with Windows Mobile out there. It will start automatically when you connect to the Bluetooth of your choice (so if you have a headset it won’t start!), and it will automatically read your incoming text messages if you want, and you can respond via voice commands. This is something that other apps (unless your car was designed to work with those apps) like Android Auto and Samsung Auto couldn’t do but worked immediately from this app.

Torn between 2 and 3 stars on this one. It’s neat, but not terribly functional. It’s a bit slow to start up, slow to start the music player, stability is questionable, and interface isn’t really well suited for use while driving (it seems they were more worried about making it cool than quick and easy to use). It has promise, but needs a good bit of improvement.

Overall I really like this app, but I do have a couple of dislikes. I love that I can respond or even send a text with my voice. I dont love that sometimes this feature does not work. I like that I can say “yo drivemode” to access some features. I dont like that this has NEVER worked for me… except when it is triggered by a random song while I am driving. I think if these things worked properly, I would give it 5 stars.

Updated: They’ve got the driving detection sort of working. I’d say it kicks in 50% of the time. UI still has some issues, too. Score bumped up, and will again once they fully fix the detection. Loved this app until recently. The driving detection no longer works and they changed all the widgets. If they can ever fix driving detection, this app gets 5 stars again

Glitches occasionally but that may be related to phone. Talk to text or talk commands never seem to work (I have it set to try to route through bluetooth microphone). I mostly like that icons are large as my phone seems to limit touch when it senses I’m driving, a feature I cannot disable, so large icons help. Compared to Google’s version I like that I don’t have to shut app down if I need to open another app.

Now here is an app that is perfect for drivers. I have tried various auto reply apps to use automatically while driving. This one works perfectly. Very easy to setup and use. 5+ stars. All you have to do is set it up once and forget it! it will do all the rest for you when it comes to txts, mail, AND so much more including voice commands if you want.

I seriously love this app! it is the third or fourth app I have tried to read me my text messages as I am driving and give me the option to respond by voice. the minor glitches I have experienced I strongly believe our because my phone, a Motorola Droid turbo, is old and tired and has been having issues in other areas anyway. I highly recommended encourage you to try this app if you want the option of having your text messages read to you and the capability of responding by voice while driving.

Have been using this app for over a year and have loved it. However, it will no longer find or allow me to add Pandora music app as one of my music app choices. Also the voice command/microphone has been nothing but a nuisance, misinterpreting words, interrupting music or conversation when it thinks it hears a question. It also fails to read some texts, some are read some not. I never had any of these problems with the app before…I use it less and less often. A fix would be great!

Very high-maintenance app. I love the IDEA of this app but the EXECUTION is still not there. I tried this about two years ago and ended up uninstalling it, and I’m heading in that direction again. This app has asked me at least twenty times in the past two days if I am driving. Guys – the LAST THING I want to do when I’m starting to drive is have a TIMED response question come up. I suspect (but don’t really know) that if I don’t answer NO it defaults to YES but that is very unclear. It plays some tones that apparently mean something to the app developers. It will then ask 5 minutes later if I”m driving. ON my scooter this morning, I responded 4 times that I was driving – and the effect was to stop navigation IN PROGRESS and I had to restart Google Maps directions. I get that determining whether someone is driving is a hard problem. But annoying your user (who may, in fact, BE DRIVING) every 5 minutes can’t be the solution.

I wanted to love this app. I’ve been lost ever since Zerotouch got pulled and thought this app would be the perfect replacement for hands-free driving; unfortunately, it wasn’t. When responding to an SMS message, Drivemode would claim “Message Sent!” and it would indeed show up in my messages as sent, but the recipient never received any of the messages. 🙁 The ability to automatically load and connect via bluetooth is a great feature, but it tends to get clunky. The app will load and instead of running in the background, will take over the screen (which can be problematic when you’re trying to use GPS) Trying to switch back to my original screen kinda defeats the purpose of hands-free. I didn’t really use any of the other features,; as my car will make hands-free calls, I was mainly hoping to use it for hands-free texting. When the other party isn’t getting the messages (and worse, I think they are!) it defeats the purpose. Sadly, uninstalling.

Absolutely had to find something that would read my texts since I’m on the road for long periods of time. Biggest annoyance is the inconsistence of the auto engage. Just now, sitting on my sofa, it turned on. Yesterday, i was on the interstate for 30min before it came on. Happens too often. The other features work really well, but i tend to use my Google Assistant for the navigation and call manager. The interface is easily navigable and cool looking. The sounds are crisp and fun.

Great App! This app is very customizable. I have it set to turn on when connected to bluetooth in my car. It turns on automatically, and turns off automatically. Just as its designed to do. Its even intuitive enough to ask me if i want to shutdown Drivemode if I start using different apps on my phone, and senses that I’m not driving anymore. And if i receive multiple tests in a row from one contact, it only replies automatically to the first incoming text. LOVE IT!

This app seems to be the best option of a whole field of terrible. Its function is inconsistent. Sometimes the voice to text is spot on. Most of the time I have to repeat and over articulate every message more than once. The new updates with automatic send without voice command has been a little embrassing when it gets the message wrong and sends it before I can get it to get a revision. I only use this app when I am driving. If I could find something better, I would switch immediately.

This app seems to be the best option of a whole field of terrible. Its function is inconsistent. Sometimes the voice to text is spot on. Most of the time I have to repeat and over articulate every message more than once. I absolutely love this app. And so far the past 5 days, I have not had any ad interruption like most apps have lots of ads. I love the factthat it has navigation function, contact list, and Google talk all on one spot for easy access on your screen. I have mine set up to automatically connect to bluetooth to my 2015 Camaro. I gave it 5 stars cause of the accessibility and awesome function it provides. Thanks guys for making driving safer. 😉

Works great, except the newest version on my new phone (May 2019) the clock only shows the time the app started. It worked once since then. Dec. 19, 2019 deleted that version and reinstalled the newest. The clock worked again for a couple days yet the main screen got messed up with the music app somehow. Disappointing. Changing music by a finger stroke still makes it worth keeping.

Love this app! It dictates new messages to me while I’m driving, waits for my voice commands to reply, takes my voice message and reads it back to me too! Completely hands free 👍 I also love that you can customize it with tons of options, a super easy to navigate menu with voice feedback that features your favorite apps, contacts and destinations. The only thing I would add is an option to repeat incoming messages for times when I didn’t catch it when it first played 😉

It’s UI is absolutely friendly and easy to navigate, use, and control. The biggest complaints I have is that it’s notifications when you get a text can be super annoying, with the voice reply being extremely buggy, and the voice for drive mode is absolutely rubbish. It’s already using Google’s voice reply. why not use Googles Assistant to voice most of it?

If they could get the bugs out, I’d love it. When it’s working, it provides some useful features that I really like. Sometimes it works perfectly, launching shortly after I start driving and stopping shortly after I park. But other times it launches randomly, as if it thinks I’m driving when I’m sitting on the couch or in bed hardly even moving. Makes no sense. That said, I’m still using it, as I haven’t really found a better alternative. Hopefully the developers can work out the kinks.

Need REAL hands free capability, whether on Bluetooth or not. I should never have to touch the phone to initiate or reply to someone. This app makes good strides to get there, misses so many key aspects, like setting appointments and reminders. The devs are very responsive when you have questions or issues. They do explain that there are many challenges to full hands free use, but that is their goal.

Good…not great Pretty useful for “hands-free” driving BUT it has room for improvement. Aside from integrating this app with other apps (youtube music, whatsapp, etc…) I think this app would be more useful if the dashboard (main screen shown when activated) could be customized to show your favorite apps/notifications. Having that/those immediately available, instead of having to navigate through the app to find them, would go a long way. Just my thoughts…

“OK Google” doesn’t respond when I’m in Drivemode. Can’t interact with the phone settings either (while pulled over but navigation is still running. Needed to fix bluetooth audio and couldn’t.) Pandora not listed unless you enable a workaround which I’ve forgotten. I LOVE that it let’s me choose Magic Earth and lots of other non-Google map apps. This and “Yo Drivermode” is the reason I stay. Thank you!

App started out being useful but with a new phone, it only received calls and not texts. Also loudly prompts you the minute you’re in a car and detects any movement and asks if you are driving or not. Almost too sensitive but I guess it’s a good safeguard. Just kind of annoying sometimes.

Besides that it is wonderful!

You’re better off just using pop up app overlays, if your Android phone supports them natively. After really liking the prospect of defining shortcuts that you can access what a really big panel, and in some cases have higher instant voice dictation accuracy than what gboard would provide, I got tired of how much this app lags my phone. Mind you, I’m even using a 2020 flagship phone! I might consider an alternative in the future, for now, this app is unfortunately on the back burner of my tools.

I love the app. It lets you set set so your texts are read aloud and respond to them all hands free so you are allowed to keep your eyes on the road. The only bad thing I have to say about this app is it won’t let you send outgoing messages. It needs to update it so that you can send outgoing messages through your phones messaging app. You can respond if someone sends you a message but it also needs to be able to send one also.

Simple app, pretty easy to navigate. However, for the music tab set-up, you can’t seem to add the podcast app of your choice but it will suggest random apps, such as Google Drive. Please fix. It’d be nice to not have to go to the Apps tab to select a desired app when there are designated tabs you should be able to include them in.

I’ve been using this for a while. I stopped driving because of covid and now that I’m driving again there are some many problems. I can’t see any of my contacts when I go to call I have to tap a drop down and say with messages to see recent or favorite. For some reason I can’t pick panda as a music player the voice command doesn’t work at all. I don’t know if it’s a setting I need to change or if it’s something wrong with the app.

The user interface will try to kill you. It is one of the most cumbersome UI’s I’ve seen for a driving app. Simply trying to get to the phone requires no less than 3 swipes and then clicking on a small arrow to access your address books. The text to voice cannot be changed to the Google API (even though there is a setting to do so) andtalkssofastitrunsallthewordstogether making it difficult to understand. The app is so buggy it will close randomly several times while using it.

I had high hopes for this app since Android Auto now only works on newer cars and Google’s driving mode now only works if you are using navigation. However, Drivemode does not function as described. I can send messages using voice activation, but it won’t read messages received. Useless. I’m disappointed and once again without a functioning hands free app.
